Week 34: Swim, Bike, Run (Sunshine Not Included)

The sun didn't shine on Sunday, but about 500 triathletes certainly did. The relentless rain couldn't stop Jania and I from crossing the finish line at the Luray Sprint Triathlon this weekend. The water at Lake Arrowhead was a balmy 75 degrees, the 17-mile bike course had some exciting descents and climbs, and we both had to fight through some cramping to get through the run. But we fared well overall in Jania's 'Priority A' race and my tune up for the Savageman.

A special thank you goes out to: the Ventura family for coming to support us, Tita Evelyn for allowing us to crash at her fantastic cabin, and Jania's brother and mom, Mike and Zurida, for being Fudge guest photographers and taking most of these fantastic pictures!

I appreciate all those who have donated to the Joanna M. Nikolay Melanoma Foundation to support me in my upcoming Olympic distance triathlon, the Savageman 30. I'm currently at 79% of my goal, and I have 5 weeks left to raise the last bit. If you're feeling particularly generous, or if you need a tax shelter (donations are tax-deductible), please consider donating to my fundraiser here.
